The Process

The Process

Using the Old World process of lost-wax casting, I create pieces that capture the longing for something real and unique, not mass-produced or impersonal.

I’ve always seen myself as a sculptor, and I approach each piece as an individual work of art. After sketching the silhouette, I set in on the real creative work: making a wax sculpture of the piece to define the dimension and details.

It is important to note that each phase of the casting process is completed by me in my studio. During this process, the wax replicas I've sculpted get ‘lost’ forever, melted away in the process of making plaster molds that eventually form the solid gold pieces. I finish the metal by hand, lightly, to preserve the soft marks that come from this process. The beloved qualities of my work—the organic texture, matte surface, classic sensibility—are inseparable from the way it’s made.

These one-of-a-kind studs, like all of my designs, are created in-house using the lost wax casting process mentioned above.

I love working with my hands and I want my jewelry to show it.
